My mom and dad are coming over for brunch on Christmas morning and I can't wait to make this cranberry panettone french toast. I saw the panettone at our local market and knew it would be the perfect food to serve alongside from freshly sliced oranges and perhaps a mimosa ;)
The recipe for french toast is so simple.
Ingredients:
Panettone (I'm using a cranberry one)
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons butter
4 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange zest
1/2 cup maple syrup, warmed
Directions
In a small bowl, combine, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar and set aside.
In a 10-inch or 12-inch skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk together cinnamon mixture, eggs, milk, vanilla and orange zest and pour into bowl. Dip sliced panettone in egg mixture.
Fry slices until golden brown, then flip to cook the other side.
Serve with maple syrup (has to be the real kind, #sorrynotsorry, and fresh orange slices.
